The Angelé family, owners of Brunetti café are delighted to announce Brunetti
café is moving back to its original home and will be located at 380 Lygon Street,
Carlton from mid 2012.
Brunetti first opened in Lygon Street in 1974 and needed to move for the building
of Lygon Court. Now, the prime site, formerly occupied by Borders, is ideal for
them to realise their vision for the café which will be a world class, truly
authentic roman Pasticceria that will rival the finest cafés in Rome and Paris.
Stepping inside the new Brunetti café will offer a sense of spaciousness and
grandeur, and yet the design also allows for an intimate feel with seating arranged
for easy conversation and a flowing design that never feels crowded.
A highlight of Brunetti Carlton will be the wood fired oven that has been specially
imported from Italy and cooks pizzas to perfection using state of the art technology
with a rotating interior.
An open kitchen will also bring a sense of excitement and flair, allowing a clear
view of the chefs in action preparing delicious meals including pasta and breakfasts.
A traditional gelatieri (ice cream maker) will also present a stunning insight into
his craft through the viewing windows.
Importantly, the move brings the proud family business full circle, back to their
heritage on Lygon Street and gives them the opportunity to present their flagship
café where it belongs.
Brunetti Cakes began trading at the previous Faraday street location in 1985 and
the Angelé family acquired the business in 1991, transforming it into an iconic
café that has become one of Melbourne's favourite destinations for delicious
Italian style coffee from the Bar, cake from the Pasticceria, gelato or tempting
savoury from the Paninoteca.
The Angelé family have carefully developed their business over the years and
in April 2005 added a second Brunetti café in Melbourne's City Square, followed
by Camberwell (October 2007) and Brunetti Myer Melbourne (October
The decision to open their first international café was a significant point
for the business and the opportunity to open a Brunetti café in the stunning
Dubai Mall in May 2010 was a huge success. The latest Brunetti café in Singapore
in Tanglin Mall is now a proud addition and is already capturing the hearts of the
local and ex-pat community with their authentic Italian style coffee, cakes and
